Treforys Tiny Tots Achieves Good Ratings Across Latest CIW Inspection
We are delighted to share that Treforys Tiny Tots Day Nursery has continued to achieve a Good rating across all four inspection areas following our recent inspection by Care Inspectorate Wales, also known as CIW.
The inspection visit took place on 12 May 2026 at our nursery in Swansea, and the published report confirmed that Treforys Tiny Tots was rated Good in:
Well-being
Care and Development
Environment
Leadership and Management
This is a fantastic achievement for our whole nursery community and reflects the hard work, care and dedication shown every day by our team.
A Nursery Where Children Feel Happy, Secure and Confident
One of the most pleasing parts of the report was the recognition of how happy, settled and confident the children are within the setting.
CIW noted that children are confident in expressing their views, making independent choices and engaging positively in their daily routines. The report highlighted that children independently choose where to play, who to play with and which resources to access.
It was lovely to see examples within the report showing children using their voices, building friendships and showing kindness towards one another. Inspectors observed children taking turns, playing cooperatively, welcoming others and showing empathy.
The report also recognised that children are actively engaged in their play and enjoy a wide range of experiences, including outdoor play, music, imaginative activities, sensory play and shared reading.
Warm, Supportive Care From Staff
The report praised the warm and respectful interactions between staff and children.
CIW highlighted that staff treat children with warmth, respect and sensitivity, helping them to feel secure and valued. Staff were seen encouraging children, supporting independence and using calm, consistent approaches to help children understand boundaries.
The report also recognised the strong focus placed on children’s health, safety and wellbeing, including effective hygiene procedures, appropriate care routines and well-managed dietary needs.
A Safe, Welcoming and Well Organised Environment
Our nursery environment was also rated Good, with CIW recognising that leaders provide a safe, clean and well-organised space that supports children’s wellbeing and development.
The report described the environment as clean, organised and welcoming, with clearly defined areas for play, inviting reading corners, role play areas and sensory spaces.
Children were also seen to benefit from secure outdoor provision, which gives them opportunities to develop physical skills, enjoy active play and explore their surroundings.
Strong Leadership and Positive Partnerships With Parents
We were especially proud that Leadership and Management was also rated Good.
CIW recognised that leaders provide strong and effective direction, maintain a well-organised setting and promote a positive staff culture. The report also noted that staff feel well supported through regular communication, meetings, appraisals and training opportunities.
Another wonderful highlight was the feedback from parents. The report described partnerships with parents as a strength of the setting, with parents giving highly positive feedback and describing the service as “wonderful”, with staff who are “warm, attentive and genuinely invested”. Parents also said their children are “happy, secure and excited to attend” and that staff “go above and beyond” to meet their needs.
No Areas for Improvement or Priority Action Notices
A key highlight from the inspection report is that CIW identified no areas for improvement following this inspection.
The report also confirmed that CIW has not issued any Priority Action Notices.
This is something we are extremely proud of, as it reflects the commitment of our staff team and the strong systems in place across the nursery.
Always Looking to Improve
Although the report was very positive, we remain committed to continuous improvement. CIW made recommendations linked to further developing planning, continuing to enhance resources and maintaining consistency across some routines.
As a nursery, we welcome feedback and see every inspection as an opportunity to keep growing, improving and delivering the very best care and early years experiences for our children.
Thank You to Our Nursery Community
We would like to say a heartfelt thank you to our amazing staff team, our wonderful children and our supportive parents and families.
This latest inspection result is something everyone connected to Treforys Tiny Tots can be proud of.
To continue achieving Good across all four areas is a brilliant reflection of the happy, caring and nurturing environment we work hard to provide every single day.
Well done to all the team at Treforys Tiny Tots.
